Book One of The Rise of the Battle Bred Trilogy was birthed between January and March of 2013
I have written a couple books start to finish...no they're not published. No, I'm not planning on publishing them. I consider them my red-headed step children that won't see the light of day. They're not horrible, just not publishable in their current form, and I don't care for them enough to fix them. Each book took about a year to write.
97 took me about one month start to finish, with a three week break in the middle of that time slot. It is also not in publishable form, yet. The difference between its completion and the others is that these characters truly came to life for me. The story is timeless, timely, and really won't let me go. I have to see how it all turns out!
At about the same time, my husband and I found a great band. We watched a little documentary about them on BYUtv, maybe you've heard of them: Imagine Dragons? As I wrote 97, I had "Night Visions" on a loop on my phone, blasting in my ear. "Demons" is William's song, for sure. I hope you enjoy it.
If someone told me five years ago I would write a trilogy in the Young Adult Paranormal Romance category, I would have laughed and said, 'Whatevs'. But after reading many many books in the genre on my Amazon Kindle, I came to realize that it was a super fun genre, and that I could do it. All I needed was a good idea. I bode my time, read more books, thumbed my nose at the vampire stories, (what can I say; they're not my favorite) and got sucked into some fun romance novels. It was in the middle of a chase scene in one of these adventurous romance novels that the germ of an idea formed in my head. I immediately recognized it for what it was...a viable story idea. I gasped, because this hadn't ever really happened before, and grabbed a notebook and pen. I began jotting down every idea pertaining to the story. Satisfied that it was a good idea, I returned to reading my book. A few weeks later, I began describing my story idea to my husband, and the story began pouring out of my head. My skin flushed; my breath grew shallow; this was the real deal. I got out my laptop and began writing. Never has a story come to me with such force. This is the one, I keep telling myself. This is the book that will get out there, the story that will get told. I hope you enjoy it.
